Schroeder Design/Build Raises Items for Good Shepherd Housing
We held a department-to-department challenge to gather children’s books and backpacks for Good Shepherd Housing, our third quarter charity sponsored through our 35 Acts of Kindness. We set the bar low—each of the four departments was tasked with gathering a minimum of 100 books and 20 backpacks. We blew that number out of the water, gathering just under 5,000 children’s books and 118 backpacks for the children in Good Shepherd Housing communities. Volunteers arrived at the Schroeder offices to pick up their bounty.
President/CEO David Levine of Good Shepherd Housing was grateful, writing, “Please thank everyone at Schroeder for their wonderful gifts of books and school bags. They will all be put to good use and will be much appreciated by our families.”
Throughout 2021, Schroeder Design/Build will host a donation link through Good Shepherd Housing. If you’d like to contribute, please go to: https://goodhousing.org/celebrate-schroeder-design-build-inc-s-35th-anniversary-with-a-donation-to-gsh/

The first rule of presale home improvements,” says Schroeder, is to do “the minimal amount that it would take to make the buyer want the home. ANDREW SCHROEDER RECEIVES 2 PRESITIOUS DESIGNATION FROM NARI
Fairfax, VA, April 2, 2018 — Schroeder Design/Build is pleased to announce that Andrew Schroeder, General Manager, recently received the prestigious Master Certified Remodeler (MCR) and the Universal Design Certified Professional (UDCP) designations from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).
An MCR designation proves the remodeling contractor’s superior knowledge, dedication to the industry, and community involvement. This program identifies professional remodelers who have undergone comprehensive review and testing in areas of business management, ethical conduct, and technical skills. The NARI certification program assesses the knowledge and skills of the remodeler in over 20 remodeling task areas including business methods and practices, building codes and construction law, planning and building site layout, and all trades skills required in remodeling your home. Attaining this certification requires the candidate to have attained the Certified Remodeler (CR) designation and maintained it current for a minimum of 10 years. The candidate must also have achieved at least one additional NARI Certification, and have served in a NARI chapter or a community leadership position.
A UDCP designation proves the remodeling contractor’s superior knowledge, technical comprehension and skill in principles attractive not only to those who wish to age-in-place but also families with special needs and families that are forward thinking. A UDCP proves knowledge in the seven principles of Universal Design, how to interview clients with an understanding and consideration of their special needs, and finally the how-to of building these projects.
“It’s an honor to receive these two designations from NARI. The focus and time to meet the requirements, reviews and testing was well worth it both personally and professionally. Throughout my career, I’ve made a conscious effort to continue my education within the remodeling industry to ensure that Schroeder Design/Build can offer the best design, customer service, and craftsmanship to our clients. The UDCP designation is particularly important in our industry today as homeowners are deciding to remodel their homes so that they can stay in them throughout their retirement. Understanding how to best meet the needs of these clients allows SDB to provide custom design solutions that will allow them to age-in-place in a functional and beautiful home environment,” said Andrew Schroeder, General Manager of Schroeder Design/Build.
About Andrew Schroeder:
As the General Manager, Andrew focuses on all aspects of a project, from the big picture to the smallest detail; he has been a part of the business since 1999. In addition to his work for SDB, Andrew has served on the Board of the NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) Metro DC Chapter.
Andrew holds a degree in Business Management from James Madison University and is an avid traveler, enjoys Crossfit and adventure races along with soccer. In both work and play, Andrew demonstrates the integrity that is an essential part of SDB’s success.
