Schroeder Celebrates 35th Anniversary. Launches 35 Acts of Kindness Campaign.
Schroeder Design/Build, Inc., a Fairfax, VA-based remodeling firm, celebrates its 35th anniversary year in 2021. And to honor this milestone anniversary, the company is planning 35 Acts of Kindness throughout the year.
The 35 Acts will be anchored by a year-long sponsorship of Hero Dogs, a local organization dedicated to raising and training service dogs for America’s heroes—our first responders and U.S. military veterans.
Acts of Kindness for other organizations, including the local food bank Food for Others, will be implemented throughout the year. Acts will range from large projects to simple and small kindnesses.
“As a company and as individuals, we are excited about both the variety of Acts of Kindness we’re planning and the organizations and people we’ll be helping,” said Andrew Schroeder, CEO of Schroeder Design/Build, Inc. “We’re so grateful to the community, clients and partners who helped and supported us these past 35 years and are glad we’re in a position to be able to give back in this fun and engaging way.”
The 35 Acts will involve Schroeder Design Build team members, vendors, suppliers, partners and partnership organizations, clients and past clients, friends, and family in different capacities.
“We don’t want to forget how we began, with two people starting a little company in the basement of our house along with two small children and two cats, and how far we’ve come. This campaign gives us the opportunity to honor the people and organizations that helped us along the way and to reflect back over the years,” added Trish Schroeder, co-founder of Schroeder Design/Build, Inc. along with her husband Tom Schroeder.
Sponsors Welcome
Schroeder Design/Build is encouraging sponsors and volunteers to join in its goal to spread kindness and give back to the local community. For details and sponsorship opportunities, contact Marketing@SchroederDesignBuild.com.
Schroeder Design/Build was founded in 1986 by Fairfax residents Tom and Trish Schroeder. A special 35th Anniversary logo will be used throughout 2021. For more about the company’s history, see www.SchroederDesignBuild.com/remodeling-about-us.

Washington Post features Schroeder Design/Build’s CEO Andrew Schroeder
Company CEO Andrew Schroeder was featured recently as one of the remodeling experts in an article in the Washington Post. The real estate-related article, titled “Preparing a property for sale: How to put the best place forward,” was written by Wendy A. Jordan and published on Thursday, April 2, 2020.
Throughout the Washington Post article, Andrew shares his expertise on the building as well as the real estate markets to help local homeowners sell their homes quickly, even in these current market conditions.
The first rule of presale home improvements,” says Schroeder, is to do “the minimal amount that it would take to make the buyer want the home. Make a list of changes that will maximize the return.” He goes on to describe which rooms and which elements of each room should be “spiffed up” prior to putting a listing on the market.

ANDREW SCHROEDER RECEIVES 2 PRESITIOUS DESIGNATION FROM NARI
Fairfax, VA, April 2, 2018 — Schroeder Design/Build is pleased to announce that Andrew Schroeder, General Manager, recently received the prestigious Master Certified Remodeler (MCR) and the Universal Design Certified Professional (UDCP) designations from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).
An MCR designation proves the remodeling contractor’s superior knowledge, dedication to the industry, and community involvement. This program identifies professional remodelers who have undergone comprehensive review and testing in areas of business management, ethical conduct, and technical skills. The NARI certification program assesses the knowledge and skills of the remodeler in over 20 remodeling task areas including business methods and practices, building codes and construction law, planning and building site layout, and all trades skills required in remodeling your home. Attaining this certification requires the candidate to have attained the Certified Remodeler (CR) designation and maintained it current for a minimum of 10 years. The candidate must also have achieved at least one additional NARI Certification, and have served in a NARI chapter or a community leadership position.
A UDCP designation proves the remodeling contractor’s superior knowledge, technical comprehension and skill in principles attractive not only to those who wish to age-in-place but also families with special needs and families that are forward thinking. A UDCP proves knowledge in the seven principles of Universal Design, how to interview clients with an understanding and consideration of their special needs, and finally the how-to of building these projects.
“It’s an honor to receive these two designations from NARI. The focus and time to meet the requirements, reviews and testing was well worth it both personally and professionally. Throughout my career, I’ve made a conscious effort to continue my education within the remodeling industry to ensure that Schroeder Design/Build can offer the best design, customer service, and craftsmanship to our clients. The UDCP designation is particularly important in our industry today as homeowners are deciding to remodel their homes so that they can stay in them throughout their retirement. Understanding how to best meet the needs of these clients allows SDB to provide custom design solutions that will allow them to age-in-place in a functional and beautiful home environment,” said Andrew Schroeder, General Manager of Schroeder Design/Build.
About Andrew Schroeder:
As the General Manager, Andrew focuses on all aspects of a project, from the big picture to the smallest detail; he has been a part of the business since 1999. In addition to his work for SDB, Andrew has served on the Board of the NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) Metro DC Chapter.
Andrew holds a degree in Business Management from James Madison University and is an avid traveler, enjoys Crossfit and adventure races along with soccer. In both work and play, Andrew demonstrates the integrity that is an essential part of SDB’s success.
